Drum sets are probably the most important instruments ever. They are responsible for keeping the beat. Common sets have 1 or 2 rack toms, a snare, a floor tom, a crash cymbal, a ride cymbal, and a hi-hat. some like "pic 1" have many, to replace the percussionist. Drum sets are common in rock and jazz, but are played in almost all music. There are 4 main cymbals used in drums sets. These are the ride(a long "riding" toned cymbal), a crash(a loud "crashing" cymbal, the splash( a smaller cymbal, kind of in between a ride and a crash), and the hi-hat(two cymbals clashed together by using the foot). There are also 4 main drums. A bass drum(a low deep, short sounding drum played with the foot), a snare drum(a sharp, loud sounding drum with metal strands on the bottom), a rack tom(a medium pitched, deep sounding drum), and the floor tom (kind of in between the bass drum and rack tom, higher than the bass, but lower than the rack). Without drum sets nothing could keep the beat of music good.
